Chianti Rufina:
The Chianti Rufina area is a smallest area of the vast
Chianti region. The climate in the Chianti Rufina area is dry and windy
which allows the area to grow grapes that are perfectly ripened. The
soil of the region also is an important factor in producing one of the
best wines in the world.
The Chianti Region:
"A vast, mountainous, wooded and rough area
celebrated for its wines, the salubriousness of its climate and its
geographical position."
That's how Emanuele Repetti described Chianti in his
Dizionario geografico fisico stoico, which was first published in 1833.
The Chianti region of Italy is simply an interesting and
fascinating region to visit.
Here you will find an unending source of culture,
scenery, architecture, tourist attractions, gastronomy and wines.
The Sienese part of Chianti contains the historical and
famous communes of this region which are:
- Radda
- Gaiole
- Castelnuovo Berardenga
- Castellina (the old Chianti League)
There is always something to see or do here. As you
would expect, no matter where you go, you will find wine cellars, farms,
castles, estates and tiny vineyards, centuries old parish churches and
more.
Not only does the region come alive during the grape
harvest and olive pressing time, but there is a non-stop cycle of
exhibitions, concerts, events and more.
