Casa Astarita Bed & Breakfast is a real jewel, located in the
very heart of Sorrento.
This place took shape from an idea of the Astarita sisters, who, for
many generations have been cultivating the art of friendly hospitality
and it was created by the fantasy and the good taste for traditions as
well as for innovation, of the well known interior designer, Mr. Marco
De Luca.
The above said definitely makes Casa Astarita the ideal solution for
those wishing to match good taste, comfort and warm hospitality.
Built in the family palace of the 18th century, this
bed and breakfast still bears the atmosphere of the period, in which the house was
built... a mixture of elegance and simplicity.
It is a prefect combination between antique and modern style, where
you can admire family furniture pieces, decorated 18th
century majolicas, together with the harmonic intertwining of arches and
vaults. What is most striking, is the wonderful sensation of feeling at
home.
Each of the six rooms is at the guests’ disposal, has its own name
and differs from the others due to the distinguishing choice of colours
and furnishing style; but they are all finely studied in every smallest
detail and supplied with all the comforts necessary to make your stay
unforgettable.
Particularly interesting is a share parlour, where all guests can
have free access to the newspaper and periodical library, tasting the
delicious breakfasts prepared by Mrs. Annamaria (you just cannot miss
the homemade cakes and fruit jams) or maybe sipping the traditional
“granma lemon liquor” in front of the fireplace, at night.

About Sorrento:
Sorrento is a clean town which is a popular tourist destination.
Sorrento's name is derived from the mythical song of the mermaids.
Sorrento is in fact, originally a Greek town and is located on a high
plateau that is protected by the sea. According to early Greek legend,
it was at Sorrento that Ulysses heard the tempting song of the Sirens,
those nymphs who labored long hours to seduce and shipwreck passing
sailors.
Few travellers come to Sorrento to view churches or museums, however,
the Museo Correale di Terranova was a gift to the city from two
brothers, Alfredo and Pompeo, the Counts of Terranova. Opened in 1924,
the museum houses ancient statues, porcelain, antiques and Italian art
on three floors, within 24 rooms. The gardens offer views of the bay and
steps leading down to the water.
Built in the eleventh century, the Cathedral of Sorrento has been
subsequently reconstructed in the fifteenth century. A Latin Cross forms
the church's interior shape. The church houses works of Neapolitan art
and has an adjoining bell tower.
The Piazza Tasso is considered to be the town square. Here you will
find a number of shops selling embroidered goods and intarsia (wood
inlay) work, both popular items from this region. For many centuries
now, the tradition of inlay woodwork has been happening in Sorrento. The
inlay done in Sorrento is characterized by its lacy design sometimes
used in furniture.
The aroma of fresh fruits and vegetables fill the air as you walk
down the narrow Via San Cesareo. Here you will also find more people
selling Italian handicrafts.
Sorrento is the perfect location for exploring other sites in the
region. Pompeii, Naples and Capri are within easy reach for day trips.
Trains along with ferries can get you to other places.
In Sorrento, the pace of life is unhurried and this state of being
transfers over to tourists who visit Sorrento. You will soon discover
that there is always time for another cappuccino!
