Eewal Bed and Breakfast is located in the historical centre of
Leeuwarden city.
This canalside house was built in 1611 when the River Ee was streaming in
front of it.
Eewal Bed and Breakfast has been fully restored so guests enjoy not
only enjoy the historical value of this ancient home, but also have
modern day comforts. Guests stay in an authentic room with plastered
ceilings, wooden floor and marble chimney.
Rates include full breakfast, parking, free (chilled) drinks, coffee,
tea, unlimited Internet usage and laptop if required.

Your Room:
The comfortable bedroom has a private bathroom, 2 leather club
chairs, cable TV with CNN/BBC, 2 electric reclinable box springs that
can be attached to each other.
Guests also have use of a private entrance and a parking space in
front of it.
Beverages:
Upon arrival, your hosts greet you with a drink. Furthermore, for
your convenience, in your room you have the contents of a mini-cooler
that consists of white wine, beer and soft drink. Naturally, coffee, tea
and mineral water are also provided in the comfort of your room.
About Leeuwarden:
Leeuwarden is the capital of Friesland which is a northern province.
Friesland is the only bi-lingual region of the Netherlands. The official
languages are both Dutch and Frisian.
In 1504, Leeuwarden became the capital of Friesland. The current
population is about 90,000.
Directions:
Walking From The Train Station (10 minutes, ¾ mile):
- From the station you cross the street opposite the Oranje Hotel
and you walk to the right in the direction of traffic lights.
- Remain on the sidewalk and pass by the ING bank (on your left)
- Cross the bridge and pass McDonald's.
- Now you walk on the Wirdumerdijk.
- Walk straight on and see at your left hand the Waagplein with old
Weighing Building and at the right Bakker Bart.
- Continue same direction into St Jacobsstraat at the end of which
you go right and are on! Gouvern eurs Plein. You enter the Eewal
here.
- Eewal 76 is on the right hand side, roughly a 200 meter walk.
By Car From Heerenveen:
- Enter Leeuwarden, keep the right lane and cross the Van Harinxma
Bridge.
- At the traffic lights go right.
- Next two traffic lights straight on (1).
- Now you approach a larger junction, keep left lane direction
Lekkum (2).
- Continue this road, taking three mini traffic circles.
- At the third mini traffic circle you will see on the right side
the office of Friesche Vlag.
- Pass the railway track ahead and continue to the second mini
traffic circle, where you go to the left entering Noord &
Zuidvliet.(3).
- This street brings you yet another mini traffic circle, just go
straight ahead.
- At the end of the Noord- & Zuidvliet cross the bridge and turn
right. (Opposite you is a red advertising sign “Content”)
- Before the next traffic circle you go left alongside the canal.
This is called Voorstreek (4).
- Keep the water at your left side and take the second large street
right. This is the Wortelhaven.
- Follow a curve to the left and you enter the Eewal, near 76 is at
your left hand.
Welkom:
In the historical centre of the van de stad Leeuwarden staat aan de
Eewal 76 achter het in 1611 gebouwde grachtenhuis (toen de Ee er nog
stroomde) een achterhuis, tevens rijksmonument, dat vorig jaar is
gerestaureerd en nu plaats biedt aan een gastenverblijf met authentiek
gestucd balkenplafond en marmeren schouw.
Deze zit/slaapkamer met kleine maar complete badkamer is te bereiken
via een eigen ingang vanaf een besloten parkeerterrein waar u de auto
veilig voor de deur kunt laten staan.
U heeft uitzicht op en toegang tot de binnentuin waar bij mooi weer
het ontbijt wordt geserveerd.
Er zijn twee elektrisch verstelbare boxspringbedden, zodat u
comfortabel in bed tv kunt kijken of lezen. Ook heeft u internet toegang
via de kabel en indien gewenst is een laptop beschikbaar. Ter
verwelkoming staat een flesje rode wijn klaar, alsmede de inhoud van een
minicooler die bestaat uit witte wijn, bier en fris. En uiteraard is er
koffie, thee en mineraalwater.
Wij kunnen u adviseren over restaurants en kroegjes in de buurt,
winkels, galerieen (alleen op de Eewal zijn er al vier!)
cultuurhistorische attracties, etc.
Een leuke hond is altijd welkom en hoeft niet te betalen, mits hij/zij
zich weet te gedragen.

Route:
U komt per auto uit de richting Heerenveen:

U komt Leeuwarden binnen over de Van Harinxmabrug, rechts
voorsorteren.

Bij de stoplichten rechtsaf, volgende twee stoplichten rechtdoor
(1).

Dan nadert u het Drachtster Plein, links voorsorteren richting
Lekkum (2).

U rijdt door in noordelijke richting en passeert vlak achter
elkaar drie minirotondes.

Bij de derde minirotonde ziet u rechts het kantoor van Friesche
Vlag.

U rijdt het spoor over en gaat bij de tweede minirotonde links af,
het Noordvliet op (3).
-
Deze straat, die aan de linker kant Zuidvliet heet, brengt u via
nog een minirotonde in het centrum.

Aan het eind van het Noord/Zuidvliet de brug over rechtsaf, deze
weg maakt dan al snel een bocht naar links.

Voor de aankomende rotonde gaat u linksaf de Voorstreek op (langs
de gracht) (4).

U gaat dan de tweede grote afslag rechts en rijdt de Wortelhaven
op.

Deze gaat na een bocht naar links over in de Eewal, nr 76 is aan
uw linkerhand.
U Komt Per Trein, loopafstand ca. 1,2 km - max. 10 minuten:
- Vanuit het station steekt u over bij het Oranjehotel en u loopt
naar rechts richting stoplichten.
- U blijft op het trottoir en passeert de ING bank.
- U loopt rechtdoor de brug over en passeert McDonald’s.
- U loopt nu op de Wirdumerwijk; u loopt rechtdoor en ziet aan uw
linkerhand het Waagplein en rechts Bakker Bart.
- U loopt nu rechtdoor in het verlengde van de Wirdumerdijk de St.
Jacobsstraat in.
- Aan het eind van de St Jacobsstraat gaat u rechtsaf en komt u via
het Gouverneursplein op de Eewal.
- Eewal 76 is aan de rechterkant, nog zo’n 200 meter lopen.
