Chez Jacotte et Elia, located in the Loire
Department of the beautiful Rhone-Alpes region of France, provides you
with four spacious guest rooms to choose from.
This completely renovated home is full of delightful character and
most importantly, charm.
Chez Jacotte et Elia is comprised of two buildings joined together by
a large central hall. The architecture is the traditional style of the
region. The original house, which is now for guests, retains all of its
charm. It has a kitchen and dining room, a living room and three
bedrooms.
The main house is now the former stables. The main house is very
modern and has many conveniences. From the main house you have a view of
the pretty walled garden. The main house also contains one more bedroom
with a private bathroom.
The whole house has a spacious feeling which helps create a relaxing
holiday mood. You will definitely feel at home when staying at Chez
Jacotte et Elia. The hospitality is both gracious and informal.
Guests are invited to play a game of pétanque, tennis on our court
or relax in our hot tub.
Located only 12 kilometers from St Etienne Airport, Chez Jacotte et
Elia provides you with the perfect base from which to explore this part
of France. Chez Jacotte et Elia is within easy reach of the A72.
For 25 years, your hostesses have been renovating their dear old
farmhouse with love and competence. They welcome you into a house full
of character where old furniture will remind you of your childhood;
then, you will be at home.
What To Expect:
Your windows open onto a peaceful and rolling landscape with wide
horizons.
The region has a rich cultural history, a lot of sporting
possibilities and a famous gastronomy. Jacotte and Elia will tell you
all the details and secrets.
The house is located 3.5 km outside the town of Saint-Galmier.
It was a farmhouse, typical of those in the area (Forez), and was
built about 300 years ago but has been completely renovated in recent
years.
It has two main wings linked by an open-to-the-courtyard wing where
the spa is located.
The North wing of the house includes a living room with TV and a
French pool table.
The South wing of the house includes a living room and the dining
area where breakfast is served.
All the sporting activities (tennis, spa, etc.) are free of charge
and perhaps Jacotte and Elia will even beat you at tennis on their
synthetic grass court that is gentle on your feet and calves!
Rooms:
Four spacious and comfortable non-smoking bedrooms are available;
three in the independent, renovated northern wing that retain much of
the original charm. The south wing contains the fourth room. Guests have
the use of a large, comfortable living room (smoking area) with pool
table, TV with English channels, and some facilities in a kitchen. Pets
welcome on request.
Chambre Turquoise:
In the South wing. 15 m2in size. This room has two
windows; one facing east and the other the courtyard and the North
wing, TV and a large and ultra modern ensuite bathroom with a double
basin, a large shower and W.C
Grande Chambre:
In the North wing. 32 m2 in size. This room has an
independent access and views to the East and South. It has one double
bed and two single beds, TV and internet connection sockets (FR-USA)
and an ensuite bathroom with basin, large shower and W.C.
Chambre Fleurs:
In the North wing.18 m2 in size with a South facing view
. This room has twin beds,TV and Internet connection sockets
(France-UK-USA) and an ensuite bathroom with basin, large shower and
W.C.
Chambre Exotique:
In the North wing. 12 m2 in size with a South facing
window. This room has a double bed, TV and internet connection sockets
(FR-USA) and an large ensuite bathroom with bath, basin and W.C.
About Saint Galmier:
St Galmier is picturesque medieval town perched on a hillside with
5300 inhabitants. The town has a holiday resort feel to it with its sun
drenched streets creating a southern feel. St Galmier is an historic old
town and looks down upon the Forez Plains.
St Galmier is a very delightful town that is well worth visiting.
There are many activities to enjoy in the town. St Galmier is a great
place to relax and to enjoy French culture in the country.
St Galmier has been rated as a 4 star as a town of flowers. What this
means to you is that your first impression of the town will be the
carpet of flowers with which we welcome you.
Very lively in summer, the town has a public swimming pool, casino,
tennis courts, horserace track and gardens. It is famous as the source
of the mineral water Badoit.
Saint-Galmier is 20 km from Saint-Etienne, 70 km from Lyon and less
than one hour by car from regional parc du Pilat.
The Town Parc:
Known for its amazing floral displays, Saint Galmier has been
rewarded with the national 4 star excellence rating with the
‘Villages and Towns in Flower’ scheme. While walking through the
park, you will be in awe of the colors and the scents created by all
of the flowers is unbelievable. The gardeners will be happy to talk
with you and share with you their love and enthusiasm for flowers. The
gardeners will also be happy to answer you questions. Open daily.

Badoit:
If you enjoy naturally sparking mineral water, then you should
visit Badoit. This naturally sparkling mineral water was prescribed by
local doctors for its thermal properties in the 18th century. Before
this though, the Romans used the water and even today, there are
remains of thermal baths created by the Romans. These thermal baths
are found on the present site of the Badoit factory. Naturally
sparkling Badoit water is captured at a depth of 100 meters in the
granite. Today, this water is considered to be one of the foremost
table waters in France.
The Convent:
This little museum open only on Sundays at 3 pm (from April to
September) is astonishing and worth a visit. Daniel Pouget used to be
the conservator of the St. Just-St-Rambert museum. He receives you in
the ancient convent located in Chazelles-sur-Lavieu. Archeologist and
ethnologist he invites you to share his travel recollections through
very well done exhibitions.
Chazelles-sur-Lavieu is 35 km from St. Galmier. It's a little
village with a population of 250 inhabitants located SW of Montbrison
at 950 m in the "Monts du Forez".
The Master Glassblower:
Pierre Marion is a master glassblower operating in the town. The
House of Glass is a unique place where melted glass will be
transformed before your very eyes! When visiting his workshop, you
discover this ancient art and technique.
Other Places To Visit:
Inside the town, you also have the opportunity to visit Laurent
Laborde, a stone sculptor. Others may want to visit the local jeweler,
Luc Taillandier.
Directions:
- At St Etienne, take the A72 towards Roanne and exit n°9 to St
Galmier.
- Take the D12 towards Chazelles sur Lyon.
- At St Galmier follows signs to Chazelles.
- When you arrive at the end of St Galmier turn right on the small
road signposted 'Langroly-Lachal' etc.
- Continue for 3.5 km.
- We are the first farmhouse with sky-blue shutters and a paved
courtyard on the left.

C'est une ferme fortifiée caractéristique du Forez. Elle se compose
de deux bâtiments reliés par un immense préau sous lequel se trouve
le SPA (Bain de remous). On peut y déjeuner en été.
Dans l'aile nord, un salon avec TV est à la disposition des hôtes
ainsi qu'un billard Français.
Dans l'aile Sud se trouve un salon-salle à manger dans lequel le
petit déjeuner est servi.
Toutes les activités sportives ( tennis, bain de remous, etc ) sont
accessibles gratuitement.
Et… peut-être, Jacotte et Elia vous écraseront elles au tennis
sur leur court en gazon synthéthique tendre aux mollets
Les Chambres:
Toutes les chambres sont non-fumeurs. Elles sont équipées de salles
de bains attenantes avec douches (l'une d'elles avec baignoire), de TV
et de prises internet.
Les hôtes peuvent fumer dans le salon mis à leur disposition et
utiliser le réfrigérateur de la cuisine.
Les animaux domestiques sont acceptés sur demande.

Saint-Galmier:
Saint-Galmier est une commune de 5300 habitants, perchée sur une
colline qui domine la plaine du Forez dans le département de la Loire
(42).
C'est une petite ville médiévale très vivante en été. On y
trouve casino, piscine, tennis, jardins, hippodrome (courses en
nocturne), golf, VTT…
C'est une ville fleurie connue pour sa source d'eau minérale BADOIT.
Saint-Galmier est à 20 km de Saint-Etienne, à 70 km de Lyon… et
à moins d'une heure de voiture du Parc régional du Pilat.
