Maison des Amis is a warm and friendly guest house, which is integral to the main house.

Originally a traditional French barn built over three hundred years ago, it has now been tastefully restored and converted.

Situated in a quiet hamlet surrounded by fields and lakes, it boasts a large well kept garden with its own swimming pool. This is an ideal place for relaxing and getting away from it all. You can simply sit outside and enjoy the ambience of the superb French countryside.

The immediate surrounding countryside consists of open fields and within a short walking distance there are beautiful lakes which harbour an abundance of wildlife.

Geographical Situation:

Situated in the west of France, the hamlet of La Gilardie is located in the commune of Le Lindois, close to the village of Russines which has a small shop, post office and an excellent bar/restaurant which is open both lunchtimes and evenings. The nearest town is Montbron.

The village, which is within close proximity, also hosts a large public swimming pool for which there is no charge.

Property Description:

Maison des Amis has been sympathetically decorated in keeping with its original character, each room has the original beams with many of the original stone walls inside the house adding to its character. There is a large cosy living room for guests to relax in and a separate dining area for breakfast. With a choice of three bedrooms available, one double with an en-suite, a large bedroom room which can sleep up to four, and another double room; both these rooms have use of a very large bathroom with separate bath and shower. Each room is equipped with complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.

Bedroom 1:

This is a double room with en-suite. It has the original beams with some of the original stone walls adding to its character. Sleeps 2 maximum.

Bedroom 2:

This double room includes double bed and full size bunk beds. It has use of a very large bathroom with separate bath and shower. It has been sympathetically decorated in keeping with its original character.

Bedroom 3:

This double room has been sympathetically decorated keeping its original character. It has the original beams and stone walls. This room shares with Bedroom 2 a very large bathroom with separate bath and shower. Sleeps 2 maximum.

A continental breakfast is included in your room rate. An English cooked breakfast is available upon request for a small fee. A picnic lunch (with 24 hours notice) is also available. Please ask for current rates.

Sporting Activities:

Within a 10 - 15 minute commuting distance there are a huge variety of activities to suit all age ranges and tastes such as golf, tennis, riding, fishing, water sports including sailing and canoeing, man-made beach, lakes, rambling, walks and cycling and for the winter sport lovers there are numerous ski runs.

Other Attractions Around:

Montbron holds a traditional French market every Tuesday, as do each of the surrounding towns although the days of the markets may vary. Within Montbron itself there are a host of bars and a variety of restaurants which will suit all tastes.

The area local to the Maison des Amis boasts a wide variety of chateaux, manor houses, vineyards most of which are open to the public.

Eating out within the area is exciting and well worth experiencing, especially restaurants in the nearby village offer a true taste of rural France.
