Although Ferme du Château is officially situated in Picardie (Picardy),
it is in reality situated at the gateway to Champagne-Ardennes.

About Picardie:
Picardie is famous for its numerous churches, abbeys, castles and
monuments commemorating great events of the past.
Picardies is known for being the heart of gothic architecture. In
fact, Picardie has six incredible cathedrals which act as towering
landmarks. They dominate the rolling countryside in a graceful yet eye
grabbing way.
For those looking for tranquility, then Picardie provides the
opportunity for a leisurely country drive or bicycle ride through the
many villages and towns.
The region suits anyone looking for tranquillity, perhaps a leisurely
drive or cycle through the neat villages before stopping to explore on
foot.
At the western most part of Picardie, you can relax on the sandy
coastline while looking out over the English Channel.
About Champagne-Ardenne:
Champagne is one of the most famous regions of France.
When you stay at Ferme du Château, you have easy access to this
region as we are situated on the border between Picardie and Champagne-Ardenne.
Champagne, is of course, an extremely famous wine. It was a
Benedictine monk named Dom Pérignon who is credited with discovering
the process of double fermentation in the 17th century. This double
fermentation process is what puts the "fizz" into champagne.
History abounds in Champagne-Ardenne. In fact, throughout the history
of France, 25 French kings chose to be crowned in the incomparable
cathedral in Reims (25 kilometers away from our château). Of course, it
goes without saying that guests of these coronation ceremonies were
served champagne!
It was because of these royal celebrations that word spread
throughout Europe and ultimately the world that champagne was most
definitely the drink to celebrate special occasions and toast good news.
One of the benefits of visiting the Champagne region is that you can
follow "La Route Touristique du Champagne". This allows you to
discover various places where champagne is produced.
When you visit Epernay and Reims, you will find champagne houses
every where. Some will be famous and some will be smaller operations.
Some of the most famous champagne producers include Veuve
Clicquot-Ponsardin, Pommery and Mumm.
Unofficially, Epernay is "capital" of champagne. The reason
for this is because Epernay is the home of home to the distinguished
houses of Mercier, Pol Roger and Möet et Chandon.
Beneath the celebrated Avenue de Champagne lie a staggering 90
million bottles of champagne! Most of the champagne houses have tours of
their caves and tastings.
For a different taste of Champagne, why not explore the fortified
towns of Langres, Troyes and Sedan. In Sedan, you will find its colossal
medieval fortified château! It has survived intact throughout the
centuries. This is a great place to see how the Champagnois protected
themselves against attack during the medieval France.
Charleville-Mézières is the puppet capital and has an annual
festival as well as weekly demonstrations by the puppet institute in the
elegant Place Ducale.
