History:

Set on its own 8 acre park with secular trees, Garrevaques was originally constructed in 1470 by the ancestors of the present owners.

Greatly damaged during the French Revolution, the chateau, as it exists today, was entirely restored in the last part of the 18th century. It has been modernized since and permanently inhabited.

The main salon has rare examples of a forerunner of modern wallpaper from Dufour & Leroy depicting grey and white classical Psyché and Cupidon scenes (hand painted paper dating back from 1840, named "Grisaille de Zuber").

The bedrooms and the public rooms all are enhanced with gilt framed mirrors, chandeliers and antique furniture. Most of them have a superb parquet floor.

Garrevaques is a privately owned chateau accepting paying guests at the home of Marie-Christine, her husband Claude Combes and their children, representing the 15th generation to live in there.

It's truly a home with a heart. If you are primarily looking for a warm welcome, then this is an ideal and cheerful place for short stay. Our home makes a great location from which you can enjoy traditional family cooking. In addition, our location is ideal for visiting and exploring a region rich in history and culture.

Histoire:
