A warm welcome awaits you at Petit Pédebosq Bed and Breakfast in a fully restored 17th century Landaise style house with a large swimming pool.

Set in the beautiful countryside of southwest France at the limits of the Landes, Béarn and Gascony, 10 kilometers from the center of Dax, this fully restored 17th century 'landaise' farm located at the end of a private drive, is certainly an ideal location where a warm welcome awaits you and your family.

No doubt that you will appreciate its calm and tranquility. Only 45 minutes drive to Biarritz, 35 km to the seashore, 1 hour to the Spanish border, this region will ensure you of an enjoyable discovery.

For British people, regular cheap flights are available by Ryanair from Stanstead to Biarritz.

Nearby:

There are many restaurants nearby with a variety of price ranges, a great variety of meals including the local specialty of foie gras and magret de canard from the ducks reared in this region.

Sort is a little village of the Chalosse area, where everyday you can find the locals gathered at the bar in the centre. We go there often to collect our mail from the postman who can always be found there until 10:30 am! A little fishing lake with a picnic area is located behind the church.

A typical French village where the inhabitants know how to live well, with the local products of duck, foie gras, asparagus and wine!

Fresh Fruit and Vegetables:

The vegetable garden is Jaqui's exclusive domain. Of British origin (precisely from Devon), she lived 8 years in Spain and seems to enjoy France for the last 12 years.

Be assured that the best fresh fruit and vegetables are used in the kitchen! Jaqui makes a fabulous paëlla.

We also have free range eggs from our chickens which are Christian's department.

Breakfast:

Your continental breakfast consists of orange juice, coffee, chocolate or tea, homemade preserves, butter, fresh bread and croissants, yoghurt, cake and fresh fruits.

Breakfast is served according to weather conditions in the kitchen or the terrace.

Dinner is available upon request and includes a starter, main course, cheese, dessert, wine and coffee. Menu changes with the season and Jaqui's imagination.

What To Do:

What to do in Pouillon and the area?

Plenty! You can roam around the area as there is a small trout river down the hill if you feel like fishing. If you need resting on the beaches, they're only 40 minutes away by car. Visit Saint-Jean de Luz, Hossegor or drive to Spain. The Spanish border is minutes away from Biarritz. We are on the roads to Santiago de Compostella.

You should take a day to visit the Pyrenées mountains and Pays Basque. A day in Dax for visiting Roman thermal sites is also suggested. In Dax, you will also find casinos, pedestrian shopping area and bullring.

What to do in the nearby area?

Dax:

The regional biggest city. Large Roman thermal town with all amenities (shopping in walking areas, restaurants, museums, cinema, theater, night-clubs, casino, etc).

The Atlantic coastline:

Long golden beaches of fine sand, one of the best destination for surfing in Europe. Numerous resorts from the most simple to the elegance of Biarritz. Do not miss the wonderful fish restaurants on the little harbour. The area is famous for its many high standard golf courses.

The Pyrenees Mountain:

The drive to the mountains (about 1 hour) from Pouillon enables you to pass through the picturesque Bearnaise countryside crossing beautiful little villages perfectly preserved in the 'Bearn' red-white colors and appearing today as they did centuries ago.

Spanish border (within 50 min drive):

A trip to Spain is advised during your stay (more info available on request).

Gastronomy:

Good quality restaurants offer "Landaise" specialties which include foies gras, confits, magrets (since the area is well known for breeding ducks), salmis de palombes (pigeons), honey, kiwi-fruit, peaches, apricots, melons, grapes, and nectarines (as allowed by the mild climate).

The wines of Chalosse have a very ancient reputation. the world famous "Jambon de Bayonne" is something that should not be missed!

Every Friday evening there is a market in the town square of Pouillon presenting locally grown products.
