Accommodations:

Chestnut Room:

With views over the parkland and toward the lake, this room is amply equipped, with classic Louis XIV style double bed, bedside tables and reading lamps, en-suite shower room with WC, wash hand basin and shower cabin with hydro massage jets. Hairdryer and cooling fan supplied.

Walnut Room:

Overlooking the pool, this room has many beautiful pieces of antique furniture, including a magnificent double bed and armoire. Many original beams. Fully equipped with reading lamps, overhead cooling fan, hairdryer. En-suite shower room with WC, wash hand basin, shower cabin with hydro massage jets.

Cherry Room:

With an abundance of original beams, this character rich double bedded room also overlooks the pool and has a cooling overhead fan, reading lamps and hairdryer. Furnished in period style with en-suite shower room containing WC, wash hand basin and shower cabin with hydro massage jets.

Garden Suite:

A two bedroom suite situated on the ground floor, this suite is suitable for those with mobility difficulties or families. One double bedded room and one room with twin beds - both sharing a large private shower room with WC, wash hand basin and walk in shower fitted with hydro jets and twin level shower heads. Full wheelchair access. Hairdryer and cooling fan in both rooms.

Table d’Hote:

Table d’hote (dinner) is available for an additional fee (please let us know 24 hours in advance).

Served every night except Thursday, why not enjoy some of the local specialities including duck and foie gras. Aperitif, wine and soft drinks available with your meal at no extra cost.

Location:

We are conveniently located near the Dax - Mont de Marsan route N124. Please note that Parrocq is not shown on any map of France, but lies between the villages of Meilhan and Campagne. It does however have its own exit, signposted from the N124.

Approximately 1 hour drive from Spain, 45 minutes to fantastic sandy beaches of Hossegor and renowned surfing paradise of Biarritz. 1 hour from Pyrennean ski resort of Iraty. For those wishing to explore the area, Lourdes is approximately two hours away and there are many fabulous bastides within easy reach. The highest sand dunes in Europe are at Arcachon, approximately 80 miles north.

For those interested in an active holiday, horse riding, golf, sailing, course and game fishing are all available nearby.

Parking is available in our private car park.

Activities:

A large swimming pool and spa/hot tub are situated in the grounds, with ample poolside furniture. Seating is provided around the parkland for those who wish for solitude.

Satellite TV, DVD and Video players (and films), board and card games. The park and forest are ideal for bird watching with an abundance of jays, golden orioles, woodpeckers etc, as well as deer and red squirrel. Cycles are available for those who feel energetic! With over 10,000 km of cycle ways in the Landes, there is plenty to explore.

If you are interested in fishing, we have a small fishing lake containing carp, tench, rudd etc for guest use. Fishing tackle is available for hire for a small daily fee.

Sun Sea and Surf:

The superb beaches at Biarritz, Hossegor, Capbreton and surrounding areas, stretching for some 106 km, all have something different to offer, from top surfing and fishing to miles of safe sandy beaches for the children. Just over an hour away is the largest sand dune in Europe, Playa de Pyla.

Mountains & Skiing:

Le Grand Parrocq is situated only 1 hour 15 minutes from the ski resorts in the Pyrenees. Of course, there is much, much more to do and see in the mountains, and is a treat for nature lovers and bird watchers.

La Rhune, a train built entirely of wood in 1924, climbs the mountain in 30 minutes, up to the summit of La Rhune. Here you will enjoy a panorama of 7 different Landes and Spanish Basque provinces. En route, you can enjoy the amazing scenery and you may even catch sight of a vulture, or a Pottock (a small, wild horse).

Fishing and Boating:

We do of course have our own small fishing pond, but for those with greater ambition there is, due to open in June, a new complex of lakes in Mont de Marsan, just 10 km from Le Grand Parrocq. Here there will be fishing as well as a separate leisure lake for the family.

Golf:

Golf de St Avit at Mont de Marsan, an 18 hole golf course open to all with a golf school.

Cycling:

With thousands of miles of cycle paths throughout the Landes, it is the perfect place for both the casual and more serious cyclist.

Horse Riding:

There are many equestrian centres to choose from including Tartas, Mont de Marsan and Tresacq.

Spiritual:

Lourdes (only an hour and a half away).

Museum of Chocolate at Biarritz.

Museum of the Sea (with seals, sharks and much more).

Do you accept pets?

Well behaved pets are always welcome.

Is the pool accessible to those of limited mobility?

The pool has a sturdy handrail for easy access.

Is the fishing lake stocked?

Guests may try their luck at our fishing pond which contains carp, tench, rudd etc. All we ask is that you put the fish back afterwards, without harm, and that you keep the surrounding area clean and tidy. Fishing tackle is available for hire for a small daily fee.

Do you cater for vegetarians?

Yes, of course we will do our best to cater for an special dietary needs. Just let us know in advance!
