Wine, Heartbeat and Herriot Country. Also 15 miles to the National

The Yorkshire Dales:
The Yorkshire Dales is one of the most beautiful parts
of northern England and not to be missed especially with its 10 national
parks.
The Yorkshire Dales is limestone country. The green
valleys are known locally as "Dales" and the white limestone
cliffs are known locally as "Scars".
Throughout the area, the dales, fields and pastures are
fenced in by stone walls. You can see these dry walls criss-crossing
over the hillsides in beautiful yet intricate patterns. These stone
walls were originally built by sheep farmers.
Some of the attractions in the area include Bolton Abbey
and Aysgarth Falls. Other attractions include the national parks and of
course, the natural beauty of the countryside.
The most famous path in Britain, known as the "Pennine
Way" also passes through the Yorkshire Dales. In addition, you will
find the "Dales Way" footpath and the "Coast to Coast
Walk". For those that enjoy a train ride, then there is the
spectacular "Settle - Carlisle Railway" journey.
The Yorkshire Dales is famous for the setting of James
Herriot's "All Creatures Great and Small".
No visit to the north would be complete unless you
explored some of the country's finest limestone scenery found in the
Yorkshire Dales!
