Embleton House is a large family run 1930's house, set well back from
the road within secluded mature gardens at the eastern corner of the
picture postcard village of Cavendish.
There are 5 luxury en-suite double rooms all designed with comfort
and relaxation in mind. Wake up to the sound of bird song and wander
into the guests lounge for our famous full 'Suffolk' breakfast made with
lots of very local produce such bacon, sausages, eggs, bread, honey and
home made preserves and other goodies.
The perfect base to explore the historic and cultural heart of the
Suffolk/Essex borders (Long Melford, Lavenham, Clare, Bury St Edmunds,
Cambridge, Constable Country).
Embleton House features its own secluded gardens with an outdoor
heated pool and tennis courts. Located at the eastern edge of Cavendish
Village and set in the beautiful countryside on the Suffolk/Essex
borders.
All our recently appointed en-suite bedrooms are designed with
comfort and relaxation in mind so you can soak up the peaceful
atmosphere of a true Suffolk village. We also cater for business and
accommodation for wedding parties.

Rooms:
All of our five recently appointed en-suite bedrooms have been
carefully designed and are finished in an Art Deco style. They were
designed with comfort and relaxation in mind so you can soak up the
peaceful village atmosphere.
The Garden Room:
Our superior room includes a king size bed, a huge bay window and a
dressing area, as well as a luxury bathroom carefully designed with
comfort and relaxation in mind.
It is located upstairs inside the house with wonderful views over
both our gardens and the Stour Valley. The luxurious bathroom includes
a bath as well as a thermostatic shower.
The room can be accommodated as either a double with a king-size
bed or a twin room with two comfortable single beds.
Myrobella:
Our smallest room has a beautiful wrought iron bed, antique
furniture and an ensuite shower room.
It is located upstairs inside the house and boasts spectacular
views over our swimming pool and the open farmland beyond.
Lavender:
One of our fixed double rooms located upstairs inside the house
with a great view out over the open countryside.
The room is extremely light and spacious and includes a luxury
ensuite shower room with a thermostatic shower.
Ivy:
One of our two large ground floor rooms, located just outside the
front door of the main house but with its own entrance and parking
space so you can come and go with ease.
The room can either include a luxury king size double bed or two
comfortable single beds. It is decorated with 1930's antiques and
includes a luxury ensuite shower room with thermostatic shower.
Ivy can also be a family room suitable for two adults and two
smaller children between the ages of six and twelve. Children under
twelve years old are charged half price.
Butterfly:
One of our two large ground floor rooms, located just outside the
front door of the main house but with its own entrance and parking
space so you can come and go with ease.
The room can either include a luxury king-size double bed or two
comfortable single beds. It is decorated with 1930's antiques, high
back chair and includes a luxury ensuite shower room with thermostatic
shower.
Butterfly can have a ramp fitted to its entrance for disabled
access and also includes a selection of items to assist our disabled
guests including fitted grab rails by the WC and shower.
We can also accommodate dogs in this room although we do ask that
dogs are kept outside in the car when the owners are not in the room.
Relaxation:
Feel free enjoy our large gardens, where we also have a tennis court
and an outdoor heated swimming pool that is open May to September by
arrangement.
If you want, walk out of the side gate and onto the footpath and
enjoy a walk across the fields to the village and beyond.
Edward's mother, Rosemary has been a qualified Holistic Therapist for
the last 12 years and can offer guest at Embleton House complimentary
treatments such as Indian Head Massage, Back Massage, Hand and Foot
Massage, etc.

Breakfast:
Our rates include our famous full 'Suffolk' breakfast, including
locally produced bacon, sausages, eggs, bread, honey and home made
preserves. We also cater for special diets such as gluten free,
vegetarian and lactose intolerant diets.
Guests' Lounge:
The lounge has French windows overlooking the garden where you can
read, play board games from our extensive selection, or just relax.
Swimming Pool:
There is a large outdoor heated swimming pool which is open from
May to September (by arrangement).
Gardens and Tennis Court:
Guests can enjoy our large, mature gardens and can also enjoy our
hard tennis court. Tennis rackets and balls are provided.
Parking:
Each room has its own allocated parking space in our driveway which
is set well back from the road.
Walking and Cycling:
The Stour Valley has many excellent walks and cycle paths. There is
a footpath by the side gate of Embleton House where you can walk
across the fields to the village and beyond (Maps and cycling routes
available on request).

Bicycle Storage:
We offer safe storage for bicycles and drying facilities.
Internet Access:
You can access the internet via a telephone point in the Guests'
Lounge (there is a small charge for this service).
Disabled Facilities:
One of our rooms, "Butterfly" can have a ramp fitted to
its entrance for disabled access and also includes a selection of
items to assist our disabled guests including fitted grab rails by the
WC and shower.
Dogs:
We can accommodate dogs in our downstairs rooms (by arrangement)
although we do ask that dogs are kept outside in the car when the
owners are not in the room. We also have two 'house' dogs, Jasper and
Pippa that are always available for walks!
Holistic Therapies:
We can offer specialized treatments such as Indian Head Massage,
Full Body Massage, Back Massage, Lymphatic Drainage and Hand or Foot
treatments on request. If you fancy a tailored break with some
treatments included, please contact us for details.

If you are visiting us for a special or romantic occasion we can
source special extras such as local fresh cream chocolates, personalized
Champagne, flowers and help book anything from Balloon Flights to
romantic dinners.
Cavendish Village:
The centrepiece of this beautiful "picture postcard"
village is The Green which is overlooked by thatched cottages and the
magnificent medieval church of St Mary's.
Cavendish is also home to the Sue Ryder Foundation and there is a
museum dedicated to its history.
There are two great places to eat in Cavendish, The Bull Inn and the
George, both within a ten minute walk from Embleton House.

breeds farm, wedding receptions and parties).

Directions:
Please note that detailed routes can be sent from your home town,
business address, airport or ferry port on request.
Directions from South East:
- Take your normal route to the M25 and head East towards the
Dartford Crossing (you will need to pay the toll).
- After the crossing continue North on the M25 to junction 28 where
you take the A12 for Chelmsford.
- Keep on A12 around Chelmsford till you see signs to Great Dunmow
on the A130.
- Once you are on the A130 keep on it over several roundabouts,
until you see signposts for Braintree on the A131.
- Take A131 around Braintree, and at High Garrett bear left onto
A1017 towards Sible Hedingham and Haverhill.
- Carry on A1017 through Sible Hedingham and past Pool Street, to
Baythorne End.
- At Baythorne End take a sharp right turn onto the A1092 to Clare
and Long Melford.
- Carry on the A1092 through the villages of Stoke by Clare and
Clare.
- The next village you come to is Cavendish. Go through the village
and Embleton House is the very last driveway on the left as you
leave Cavendish. We are well back off the road but you will see our
sign at the entrance (see below).
Directions from South West:
- Take your normal route to the M25 and head North.
- At Junction 23 turn off for the A1 North.
- Stay on the A1 until Junction 9 signposted Baldock.
- Go through the town and turn left at a roundabout by a Tesco's
store, then right at a mini roundabout, straight over traffic lights
and you are now on A505 to Royston.
- Stay on the A505 around Royston and continue towards Newmarket.
This eventually brings you to the A11( having crossed the M11 at
Duxford).
- As you come onto the A11 keep left, and after a few hundred yards
come off onto the A1307 (Cambridge and Haverhill), towards
Haverhill.
- Proceed to Haverhill on this road, but as you approach the first
roundabout keep right on the A1017 to Halstead.
- Stay on this road over many small roundabouts, and then a couple
of small villages until you come to Baythorne End.
- At Baythorne End take a sharp left hand turn onto the A1092 to
Clare and Long Melford.
Carry on the A1092 through the villages of Stoke by Clare and Clare.
- The next village you come to is Cavendish. Go through the village
and Embleton House is the very last driveway on the left as you
leave Cavendish. We are well back off the road but you will see our
sign at the entrance (see left).
Directions from the North:
- Take your normal route to join the M6 heading South.
- Just before the M6 joins the M1 take the A14 South.
- Go down A14 to where it splits into the A14 and the M11, just
before Cambridge.
- Take the M11 down to junction 10 and take the A505 for Newmarket.
- Stay on A505 until it joins A11, then stay in the left lane to
exit almost immediately at Fourwentways on the A1307 for Haverhill.
- Proceed to Haverhill on A1307, but as you approach the first
roundabout keep right on the A1017 to Halstead.
- Stay on this road going over several small roundabouts, until you
come to Baythorne End, where on a sharp bend you turn left on to the
A1092 sign posted Clare and Long Melford.
Cavendish is on this road about 3 miles after you have gone through
Stoke by Clare and Clare.
- Come right through the village and we are the last house on the
left. We are well back off the road but you will see our sign at the
entrance (see left).
