What To Expect:
Unique on Cayman Brac, this is a personalized, small scale bed and
breakfast hotel that's more richly decorated, more elegant, and more
appealing than you might have thought.
Originally the home of a sea captain, it was moved to a less exposed
location and rebuilt from salvaged materials shortly after the
disastrous hurricane of 1932.
Set on 3 acres of land on the island's north shore, within a lush
garden that's ripe with breadfruit, a hardy species of mango, and a
local species of edible fruit known as guenup, it contains such
intriguing touches as a banister salvaged from the mast of a 19th
century schooner.
The most desirable accommodations are on the upper floor, partly
because of their narrow balconies that encompass views of the sea.
No meals are served other than the full American breakfasts that are
included in the price.
Sea Dreams Villa:
Located right on the tranquil Caribbean Sea. Sea Dreams is a
beautiful luxury villa.
This 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom luxury villa is the perfect getaway.
With fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, phone, TV, VCR,
central air, ceiling fans, BBQ, linens & towels. Just bring your
favorite person.
Step out the door to the best snorkeling and scuba on the island.
Relax in our hammocks between the coconut trees on our private beach or
enjoy the sweet breezes from your porch swing. Walk out back through our
gardens and savor the sounds and sights of our diverse flora and
tropical birds.
If you are interested in our Sea Dreams Villa, then please contact
for rates as they are different to our bed and breakfast rates.
The World's Greatest Diving:
Whether you are the experienced diver or the novice, we can direct
you to the Brac's experienced dive masters for group or private dives to
our beautiful coral reefs and walls. Cayman Brac has been rated the
third best dive location in the entire Caribbean!
Our biggest attraction is our unspoiled crystal clear waters.
Snorkeling is fantastic either from shore or boat and there are numerous
sites. Diving is available through group dive operators or with a
private dive master for a personalized dive experience both during the
day and at night. There are underwater caves and walls, fantastic corals
and giant barrel sponges. Come and meet our wonderfully friendly
porpoise, which loves to swim with the divers.
We are affiliated with an experienced boat captain and dive master
for those who wish to experience personalized diving, fishing &
snorkeling charters or day excursions at very competitive rates.
Our dive master will also take you diving to Little Cayman (our
smallest island), which is only 6 miles away.
Island Nature:
Walton's Mango Manor and Cayman Brac offers its guests the rare view
of nature unspoiled. Wild parrots, other exotic birds and tropical
flowers cover the island. Hike our unique and rugged bluff. Explore our
many caves. Let us guide you to some of Mother Nature's favorite spots.
Island Life:
Cayman Brac is known as the "Quiet Island"... Relax. This
is your vacation. Let Walton's Mango Manor provide you with the comforts
of home, without any of the worry. Walk the secluded beaches leaving
only a trail in the sand behind.
About Cayman Brac:
The Cayman Islands are a group of three islands (Grand Cayman, Cayman
Brac and Little Cayman) located in the western Caribbean. Cayman Brac is
a rustic, sleepy little island, which hasn't yet been spoiled by
commercialism.
"Brac" is a Gaelic word for bluff. The bluff is a
spectacular 145 foot coral projection at the east end of the island that
runs down the center of the island tapering to sea level at the west
end. The bluff has many caves to explore to the delight of spelunkers.
The face of the bluff at the east end of the island offers a challenge
to rock climbers. Nature trails abound from easy to more rigorous for
all kinds of hikers.
The Brac is a bird watcher's heaven. The island is teeming with
tropical birds. When you arrive, ask Lynne or George Walton for a
guidebook to the birds of the Cayman Islands. Our indigenous species of
parrot (the Cayman Parrot) frequent Walton's Mango Manor's trees -
especially during the spring and summer fruiting season. Cayman Islands
National Trust personnel stayed at Walton's Mango Manor for the past two
parrot census.
Did we mention fishing? Cayman Brac offers challenging deep sea
fishing for big game with such prizes as tuna, dolphin (the fish, not
the porpoise!), king fish, etc. Groupers, snappers, bonefish and tarpon
are also plentiful. We can direct you to fishing guides.
What about nightlife and tourist shops? If you need a lot of that -
check out Grand Cayman. We just don't have it and we really don't want
it. For some camaraderie we have a few hotels and bars which have local
bands playing on the weekends. We brag about our only fast food
restaurant which is Dominoes Pizza. We do have some really good local
restaurants. You are also welcome to use our fridge and microwave oven
to store and heat snacks and drinks.
Our other natural resource is our people. You won't find friendlier
and more honest people anywhere. And the Brac is safe. Our crime rate is
almost nonexistent. On an island which is so small and where everyone
knows everyone else - where are you going to go if you take something
that doesn't belong to you? You can stop anyone, anywhere, to ask
questions and directions - they will always try to help.
The Cayman Islands are a British Crown Colony. The Queen owns the
beach from sea to high water mark. That means you are free to walk and
relax on the shores anywhere on the island. The North shore is mostly
rocky iron shore with some areas of beach. It is great for fishing and
snorkeling. The South shore has more sandy beaches, which are wonderful
for sunning and plain swimming, but not a lot to see but sandy bottom.
There is a public beach on the south side. Since we don't have an
abundance of tourists, there will probably be very few, if any people
there.
We offer you a truly relaxing vacation, with lots of secluded private
places, warm tropical breezes and friendly hospitality.
Your Hosts:
Your hosts are Brooklyn born Lynne Walton and her husband, George. A
retired United States Air Force major, he retired to his native Cayman
Brac after an extended military career, opting today to run the most
charming hotel on the island.
