What To Expect:
MacKenzie House offers exceptional value for all those
visiting the area.
Our entertainment room will allow you to try your skills
on our professional size pool table or you may want to get some exercise
on the computerized treadmill, exercise bike or the light workout bench
provided for your enjoyment.
This extensive home provides you with all the amenities
to be comfortable all year round. The high quality of our hospitality
and accommodations will help make your visit more enjoyable, relaxing
and memorable. Your stay may be as private or social as you desire.
A guest lounge is provided for your relaxation. We have
an area for those who may just decide to sit outside at one of our three
patios enjoying the Cape Breton air, reading a book or allowing us to
assist you in fine tuning the rest of your trip.
Rooms:
Our guest rooms are best described as quiet, relaxing,
secure and peaceful.
The four guest rooms are identified by their own unique,
handmade Scottish logo on the door.
All guest rooms are new and feature central air
conditioning/heating with individual room control, alarm clock radio,
cable, color TV with remote, private patio and a private outside
entrance. There is a sitting area and writing desk in each room.
Extra blankets and pillows are provided along with
laundry facilities, a VCR, internet access, luggage racks, fax services,
writing paper and a well-appointed lounging area for all guests.
The Scottish Thistle, The Scottish Heather, and The
Celtic Rooms:
The Scottish Thistle, The Scottish Heather, and The
Celtic rooms all have queen-sized beds, ensuite four-piece baths,
central air-conditioning and very high quality bedding. These rooms
are all on the ground floor. We are proud to introduce these fully
air-conditioned rooms to our guests.
Scottish Highlander Room:
Our fourth room, the Scottish Highlander is of similar
high quality but with an extra touch of privacy, a king size bed and
an ensuite four piece bath with a whirlpool hot tub, sky light and a
bathroom / shower combination. This room is on the second floor and has
a private outside entrance as well as easy access to the guest lounge
and the entertainment room.
Breakfast:
A full breakfast, included in the room rates, is served
to all guests each morning in our well-appointed dining room.
Wake up to the aroma of freshly ground coffee and
experience the delight of a breakfast prepared for your enjoyment.
Breakfast is served in our well-appointed dining room
from 7:30 to 9:00 AM.
Directions:
The Canso Causeway provides the only roadway link to
Cape Breton Island with the mainland of Nova Scotia.
Anyone traveling along route 105 toward the island must
travel across this vital link which incorporates a railway and a
highway. MacKenzie House is located only four kilometers from the island
side of this gateway to Nova Scotia's masterpiece, Cape Breton Island.
- Follow route (4) / (104) toward Port Hawkesbury and
in about 4 minutes look for the first right turn after leaving the
rotary above the causeway.
- This right turn is identified as "Embree's
Island Road."
- Watch for signs indicating the exit for MacKenzie
House.
- Tupper Court is the only street off Embree Island
Road.
- The sign on the front lawn offers guests their first
impressions of the hospitality, which awaits inside, and a warm
welcome to all who visit.
- Located about 4 km (2.5 miles) toward Port
Hawkesbury from bridge.
- Your exit from the four-lane highway to MacKenzie
House is on your right.
- Watch for signs related to MacKenzie House Bed and Breakfast.
