At Mini Horse Farm we raise Registered American
Miniature Horses on an 8 acre farm overlooking the Bay of Fundy.
We are located on the outskirts of the Village of St
Martins and are 45 minutes from downtown Saint John.
A great many small children have had their first
experience with horses here on the farm. With either a saddle ride or a
mini horse drawn cart ride shared with mom or dad, each child takes away
an unforgettable memory.
Our bed & breakfast rooms provide a pleasant and
economical base from which to explore the St Martins sea caves, the new
Fundy Hiking Trail and Parkway, nearby lovely beaches, and our
picturesque fishing harbour with its twin covered bridges.
The Tiny Trotter Gift Shop, adjacent to the farmhouse,
may hold just the right gift for that special "horsey" person.
Unique wooden rocking horses, puzzles, barns, hobby horses and farm
trucks, made on the premises, are our specialty.
About Us:
Gather up your reins... you're in the driver's seat
behind a Miniature harness horse.
Our delightful minis will pull an adult and small child
combo on a cart ride around the farm. Shrieks and laughter are the norm
as the horses pick up speed on the final stretch back to the barn.
Saddled Miniatures carry children up to 50 lbs and there
are ponies for the older kids. Safety is uppermost and all riders are
led, with tiny ones steadied by a parent.
Tiny foals are born in early summer and even the most
timid of children will want to pet and hug them. Staff will answer all
your questions and guide you through the barn and pastures to meet each
little horse.
Saddle rides and cart rides (usually 2 passengers) are
extremely affordable. For staff time for tours we ask ask a donation in
the barn door box.
We'd be pleased to have you sign our guest book in the
Tiny Trotter Gift Shop behind the farmhouse. Washroom facilities and
picnic tables are available.
Rooms:
A restful night beckons you at Minihorse Farm Bed &
Breakfast. You'll be ready for a cozy bed after hiking the beautiful
Fundy Trail or the miles of unspoiled beaches just minutes away.
The Minihorse Farm is a relaxed and casual setting with
a down-to-earth host family. Two rooms are available. One with a queen
bed and the other with two twin beds. A roll out cot for a child can be
set up in either room.
Wake up to the smell of homemade blueberry waffles and
the sounds of little horse whinnies.
The Experience:
The farm is home to a herd of Registered American
Miniature Horses and several ponies.
Stroll through the pasture with the mini horses where
you'll take in a marvelous view of the Bay of Fundy. St Martins offers
so much to see and do with its famous sea caves, a charming fishing
harbour with twin covered bridges, a ship building museum, public
gardens, fresh water swimming, the highest tides in the world, and the
best in seafood dining.
Cottage:
Seasong Cottage is a new three bedroom retreat that has
it all including privacy, quiet, breathtaking ocean view, the sound of
the waves on the shore below and comfy accommodation with complete tiled
bathroom, all linens, washer/dryer, stove, fridge, microwave, TV/VCR.
An upper and lower deck invite outdoor living, taking in
the sunrise sparkling on the Bay, the pinks and mauves of sunset, and
later enjoying the tranquility of moonlit water and murmuring surf.
This is our only cottage, built at the base of a steep
wooded hillside, high above the Bay of Fundy in a quiet corner of our
Miniature Horse Farm. Miniature horse or pony riding and driving take
place each day at the other end of the farm.
The harbor village of St Martins is minutes away, as
well as world class hiking, pebble and sand beaches, and famous sea
caves.
Directions:
About an hour from Saint John or Sussex on Route 111. ½
hour from the Saint John airport.
